Tuesday evening, when Constance was walking her dog, she saw a cicada emerging from its exoskeleton.
“Cool,” said Constance. “I’ve always wanted to be a midwife.”
She took out her cell phone and started taking pictures of the birth, which is exactly what a midwife would do.
As she waited for the cicada to fully emerge, she got bored and decided to keep walking her dog.
“Come on, Debbie,” said Constance. “I haven’t got all day.”
Ten minutes later, she and Debbie returned to the birthing center, which was a tree. The cicada was fully “born.”
“Hurray!”
Constance took another picture and then went home where she reached for her book on animal spiritualism…

As she read, she learned that when a person sees an emerging cicada, it’s a sign that the onlooker is too guarded and secretive. That it’s time to start trusting other people.
“Hahahahaha fat chance, cicada!” Constance exclaimed loudly.
She also read that the noisy presence of a cicada is a reminder of the importance of “expressing yourself uniquely and confidently.”
“Hahahahaha fat chance, cicada!”
Lastly, she read that seeing a cicada is a reminder to “communicate better with the people in your life.”
“Hahahahaha fat chance, cicada!”

Last week I saw two cottontail rabbits in my yard. When I looked up their spiritual meaning, I learned that seeing multiple rabbits is a sign that it’s time to confront one’s nervousness.
“Hahahahaha fat chance, rabbits!”

What animals or creatures have you noticed lately? A red tail hawk can mean you’re holding anger; a squirrel might mean you’re too busy; a porcupine means you need to protect something; a coyote means you’re up to some mischief. And on and on.
I hope you see many wonderful animals this week and always.
Thanks for reading. – Constance
